Leadership Crisis: Aggrieved Stakeholders Dump ADC In Adamawa

The wrangling within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has deepened as some critical stakeholders have announced their exit from the party due to what they described as systematic exclusion, imposition and intimidation of genuine members and aspirants by the leadership of the party.

The stakeholders drawn from the three senatorial zones met on April 18, 2026 at the residence of Hon. Mijinyawa Umaru Kugama and reviewed the developments arising from the recently conducted party congresses and resolved to resign their membership from of the ADC with immediate effect.

In a communique signed by the convener, Hon. Kugama and secretary of the meeting, Hon. Saidu Njobdi Komsiri, they declared that the actions of the party leadership at both state and national levels had destroyed internal democracy, undermined the rule of law, and rendered the party structure in Adamawa State illegitimate and unacceptable.

The stakeholders who rejected the outcomes of the recently conducted congresses declare them null, void, and of no consequence, noting that the congresses conducted under the leadership of Ishaya Bauka (Rtd) were fundamentally flawed, manipulated, and imposed against the will of the majority of party members.

They further said that valid court judgements and subsisting injunctions were deliberately ignored, setting a dangerous precedent of lawlessness within the party, adding that the party has lost moral legitimacy and can no longer serve as a credible platform for democratic participation in Adamawa State.

The stakeholders stated that ADC by its actions has abdicated its responsibility as a democratic institution in Adamawa State.

The communique reads in part: “We unanimously mandate Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani to lead stakeholders in determining and transitioning into a viable political platform for effective participation in the 2026 general elections, particularly the Governorship race in Adamawa State.

“A structured and coordinated movement of stakeholders and supporters across Polling Units, Wards, LGAs, and the State will commence immediately to ensure a seamless transition.

“We resolve to immediately align with a more credible and democratic political platform that guarantees fairness, justice, and respect for the rule of law”.

The stakeholders maintain that the decision marks the beginning of a new political direction anchored on credibility, inclusiveness, and true democratic ideals.
