Nigerian singer BNXN has fired back at American rapper Fat Joe after Fat Joe made controversial claims that Afrobeats originated in Jamaica.
The dispute began after Fat Joe appeared on a recent podcast, where he argued that Nigerian music has its roots in Jamaican culture. The rapper also claimed credit for forcing BNXN to change his former stage name, “Buju,” out of respect for Jamaican dancehall legend Buju Banton.
Responding via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, BNXN did not hold back, telling the American
rapper to get his facts straight regarding African music history.
“The hate in your heart and your misinformation about African music and its artists is why your chromosomes are all f**ked up,” the singer wrote. He ended his post by calling the rapper a “bozo” and urging him to “educate yourself.”
