Boko Haram terrorists have claimed that they have selected 68 women out of the reported 416 Ngoshe captives and intend to distribute them among their members.

The latest claim is coming after the 72 hours ultimatum issued by the terrorists five days ago on N5 billion ramsom for the captives from their relatives expired ,and 12 of the captives escaped.

The 68 women to be married off are part of the 416 residents abducted by the terrorists during the recent attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza local government area .

Security agencies and community leaders said efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining captives from terrorists enclaves in Sambisa Forest.

However, the president, Borno South Youth Alliance ( BOSYA ) , Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, a group which has been advocating for the freedom of the victims, said around 8pm on Thursday, 23 April, he was contacted by individuals identified as JAS, also known as Boko Haram, regarding the abducted Ngoshe victims.

He said during the communication, the terrorists claimed that they have selected 68 women out of the reported 416 captives and intend to distribute them among their members, similar to previous abduction cases.

Kaigama said the terrorists also made threats that some captives may be harmed or killed based on their own selection.

He said they further mentioned figures ranging between 50 to 60 persons in relation to those they may target.

The BOSYA president said given the seriousness of these claims and the immediate danger to innocent lives, they strongly believe that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Department of State Services (DSS), military authorities, and all relevant security agencies should urgently become involved.

“If this message reaches the appropriate authorities, we respectfully call on them to act immediately and use every lawful means available to gather intelligence, verify these threats, and save the lives of the women, children, and other vulnerable victims still in captivity.

“This is beyond politics. This is a humanitarian emergency involving innocent citizens whose lives may depend on urgent intervention,” Kaigama said.

He added that BOSYA remains committed to doing everything within lawful and peaceful means to advocate for the safe release of all abducted Southern Borno indigenes.
