The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced that the playoff round of this year’s President Federation Cup will commence on Wednesday, May 6, marking the long-awaited start of the country’s oldest domestic football competition.

Following the conclusion of State FA Cup tournaments nationwide where both winners and runners-up earned their spots the NFF has now scheduled the playoff matches to take place simultaneously across multiple venues.

According to a statement signed by Ruth David, the NFF’s Director of Competitions, the men’s and women’s categories will both kick off on the same day at designated centres.

In ne of the most anticipated matchups in the men’s draw, Lagos-based G12 FC will go head-to-head with Osun State champions Dokkal Khairu FC at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

Meanwhile, Ondo State representatives Sunshine Stars U19 are set to face Ekiti’s Harmony FC in Osogbo.

In the northeast, Adamawa Academy will clash with Elkanemi Junior from Borno in Bauchi, and Sporting Supreme U19 of Abuja will travel to Lafia to meet Reigners FC of Kogi State.

On the women’s side, several intriguing ties have also been confirmed. NAF Queens FC of the Federal Capital Territory will square off against Model Queen FC of Kwara. In the north, Kada Queens FC from Kaduna face Plateau’s Mighty Jets Mata FC. Bayelsa Princesses FC have been drawn against Ikukuoma Queens FC of Imo, while Zorha Queens FC of Enugu will meet Esthington FC of Ebonyi.

The playoff round serves as the gateway to the main draw of the prestigious President Federation Cup, with teams from across Nigeria vying fiercely for a place in the next stage of the competition.
