As his time at Trabzonspor draws to a close, 37-year-old Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme has set his sights on one final mission: lifting the Turkish Cup with the Black Sea Storm.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season and no extension on the table, Nwakaeme is determined to turn his farewell tour into a trophy-laden exit.

Trabzonspor are just one step away from the final, scheduled to face Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Cup semi-final next Wednesday.

It’s a golden opportunity for the veteran, who has featured only once in the competition this season, to add another winner’s medal to his collection.

Nwakaeme knows the taste of Turkish Cup glory well. During his first stint with the Claret and Blues, he was instrumental in their 2019/20 triumph. After a brief departure, he returned to the club for a second spell in 2024, hoping to recapture past magic.

However, the campaign has not gone as planned on the personal front. Since the arrival of compatriot Paul Onuachu, Nwakaeme has found regular playing time hard to come by.

Despite limited minutes, the experienced striker remains focused on the collective goal. “I want to say goodbye with a trophy,” Nwakaeme was quoted as saying. “This cup means everything to me and the fans.”

If Trabzonspor overcome Gençlerbirliği, they will advance to the final — giving Nwakaeme one last shot to script a dream ending to his Trabzonspor story. For a player who has given his all to the club, a cup victory would be the perfect parting gift.
