The founding coordinator of the NDC Youth Agenda, Preye J. Ketebu-Brown, has stated that the extension of the deadline for the sale and processing of expression of interest and nomination forms by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) provides young aspirants with much-needed breathing space ahead of the party’s electoral process.
In a statement made available to journalists, Ketebu-Brown explained that the extension will allow more young Nigerians seeking elective positions to mobilise resources and complete the nomination process amid prevailing economic challenges.
He described the decision as a sign of responsive and inclusive leadership within the party.
“To raise the necessary funds for the purchase of forms was a daunting task for many struggling but determined young aspirants,” Ketebu-Brown said, noting that appeals from aspirants and party supporters across the country influenced the leadership’s decision.
He added that the move reflects a “new dawn in political party administration in Nigeria,” highlighting the importance of leaders who listen and respond to the concerns of citizens.
Nigerians, he said, have long been yearning for leadership that feels the pulse of the masses and aligns with their collective preference.
Ketebu-Brown also commended the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, the National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, and other party leaders for ensuring a smooth nomination process.
He stressed that the extended timetable particularly benefits younger aspirants, giving them more time to consult widely and raise the necessary funds for their forms.
“The extended timetable favours the youths the most as they need more time to engage broadly in order to generate needed funds for their respective forms,” he said.
He concluded by urging Nigerian youths to join the NDC, describing the party as a platform that promotes youth participation and inclusion in governance.
