The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kogi State chapter, has condemned the killing of nine pastoralists in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, describing the attack as barbaric and unacceptable.

In a statement signed by the state secretary of the association, Suleiman Muhammed, MACBAN expressed sadness and outrage over the incident, which reportedly claimed the lives of innocent men, women, and children.

The victims were identified as Isiaka Lawal, Larai Musa (wife of Isiaka Lawal), Abdullahi Isiaka, Isah Isiaka, Saleh Isiaka, Samsiya Adamu, Asma’u Siuni, Basullube Musa, and Bello Musa.

The association also disclosed that three persons sustained injuries in the attack. They include Husseini Haruna, Abdullahi Abdullahi, and Sa’ida Haruna.

MACBAN called on security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, arrest those responsible, and ensure that justice is served.

According to the association, the continued targeting and killing of innocent pastoral communities is dangerous and capable of escalating tensions among peaceful communities.

The group extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

It also appealed to governments at all levels, humanitarian organisations, and relevant authorities to provide urgent relief materials and medical assistance to affected families.

MACBAN further urged members of the pastoralist community and residents of the area to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies carry out investigations.

The association stressed that the sanctity of human life must be protected at all times, irrespective of ethnic background, religion, or occupation, noting that every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law.
