Only patriots like President Bola Tinubu can implement the current economic reforms in the country, regardless of the immediate and future consequences on their political ambition.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 senatorial candidate for Abia South, Erondu Uchenna-Erondu Jnr, stated this yesterday while speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday in Umuahia, the state capital.
Uchenna-Erondu, who was assessing the president’s third year in office, argued that the reforms were inevitable at the time they were taken to save the country’s economy from collapse.
The member representing Obingwa-West State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, observed that the good thing about the reforms was that they had begun to yield the desired results.
”Despite the challenges, the economy has begun to stablise to give way to the emergence of a foundation for long-term economic stability and national development,” he noted.
He described the party’s just concluded primaries as not only free and fair but also an eloquent testimony of the members’ preparation for the general elections.
He attributed his emergence to his long-standing relationship with the people and years of grassroots engagement through empowerment and intervention programmes.
Uchenna-Erondu scored 16,640 votes against Dr. Nyerere Chinenye Anyim with 5,206 votes; Prince Paul Ikonne, 4,099; and Hon. Blessing Nwagba, 4,456 votes.
”I would like to use this opportunity to congratulate the president and every other candidate for their victories in the primaries as we prepare for the main action.”
The lawmaker assured that he would leverage on the success of the primaries to ensure victory for the party in the district in all the elections.
