A former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege on Monday dismissed as false and malicious, reports in the social media that he lost the primary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the Delta Central Senatorial District in 2027.

Omo-Agege described the reports as the handiwork of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “Online media rats” following his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While the former deputy Senate President is insisting that he won the NDC Delta Central senatorial primaries, reports suggested that he lost the ticket to a fellow aspirant, Olorogun Bernice Dema.

Omo-Agege joined ADC after APC declared the incumbent senator representing Delta Central District, Ede Dafinone winner of its primaries conducted on May 18, 2026.

According to the APC, Dafinone secured 116,252 votes, defeating Omo-Agege who polled 3,643 votes, a result he rejected.

In an interview with journalists in Abuja on Monday, the former lawmaker said he has a cross-party appeal with his supporters in Delta Central Senatorial District standing by him in the last APC primaries which, according to him, he won but was denied.

“I have the goodwill that my exit from APC and my movement to the NDC has generated. That’s why they’re doing that. How can I be defeated? By who? How is that possible? The only challenge we have now is that we are under restraint not to announce the results.

“It is the responsibility of the national leadership of NDC. Other than that, with the organic support I have across my Senatorial District, I have a cross- party appeal and they all stood by me in the last APC primaries which I won. But I was denied and I’m now in NDC. Thank goodness that nobody is denying me anything here in NDC.

“I won the primaries but we are waiting for it to be formally announced by the national leadership. But take my words to the bank, we have declared winners at primaries. The Governor’s online rats are behind that rumour that I didn’t win the primaries,” he said.
