The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has launched a sharp criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing its approach to worsening insecurity as ineffective and poorly executed.

Reacting to recent killings in parts of Plateau State and the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, Sowore said government interventions announced by the Presidency have so far failed to produce tangible results.

In a post shared on social media, the activist-politician accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of failing to fulfil key security promises, including the deployment of 5,000 artificial intelligence-enabled surveillance cameras and the recruitment of forest guards to tackle criminal activity.

“Your lazy and clueless president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has no effective solution to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity,” Sowore wrote.

He argued that despite government assurances following repeated attacks in Plateau State, violence has continued unabated. He also cited the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, saying the proposed deployment of 1,000 forest guards had not halted kidnappings.

Sowore further used the opportunity to restate his demand for a living wage of N500,000 for Nigerian workers, insisting that current salary levels are no longer sustainable under prevailing economic conditions.

“The nation’s consciousness needs a leader with a conscience, one who can awaken the people and ensure they never again go to sleep on their rights and dignity,” he said.

“In this harsh Tinubu economy, everyone who earns a salary knows that no human being can live decently on N100,000 a month, yet those in positions of authority have remained silent.

“The suffering is obvious, the injustice is clear, but too many have chosen complacency over courage. A society progresses when its people become conscious of their condition and refuse to accept poverty, exploitation, and inequality as normal,” he added.
