Stakeholders of the Obedient Movement and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Southern Kaduna have called on the party leadership to consider zoning its governorship ticket for the 2027 Kaduna State election to the Southern Senatorial District.
The position was contained in a statement signed by Pastor Isaac Ango Makama, Coordinator of the Obedient Movement and NDC Stakeholders in Southern Kaduna Senatorial District.
The stakeholders said their request was based on considerations of political inclusion and representation within the party ahead of the governorship election.
In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Makama said the appeal was aimed at encouraging broader participation in the party’s activities and decision-making process.
According to him, Southern Kaduna recorded significant support for the political movement associated with former presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections.
Makama said the voting pattern in the area reflected what the group described as a desire for greater inclusion and governance reforms.
He argued that as the NDC prepares for future electoral contests in Kaduna State, the party should consider the Southern Senatorial District in determining its governorship candidate.
Makama also stated that emerging political alignments across the state’s senatorial districts make Southern Kaduna a possible option for the party’s consideration.
He added that the district has individuals who could contest and participate competitively in the governorship race.
The stakeholders appealed to the party leadership and other stakeholders to consider their position ahead of preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
They said the request was intended to promote internal engagement and participation within the party.
