Kogi State Police Command has commenced a statewide enforcement exercise against vehicles with covered, obscured, defaced, unauthorised, invalid or missing registration number plates.

This was contained in a statement issued by its spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, on behalf of the commissioner of police,.

The exercise, which began yesterday was in compliance with the directive of the inspector-general of police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing criminals from using unidentifiable vehicles to perpetrate crimes.

He said, The commissioner of police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and personnel of the Motor Traffic Department to ensure strict enforcement across their respective areas of responsibility.

According to the Command, vehicles found to be in violation of the regulations will be impounded and investigated in accordance with existing laws.

Motorists, transport operators, and fleet owners have been advised to ensure their vehicles display valid, clearly visible registration plates at all times. They are also urged to keep all relevant vehicle documents up to date and readily available for inspection when required.
