President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Victor Ochei, has reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to transforming Nigerian tennis through institutional reforms, grassroots development and strategic partnerships.

Speaking ahead of the grand finale of the sixth DavNotch National Open Tennis Championship, scheduled for today at the Package B Tennis Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Ochei said the Federation remains focused on building a more competitive and sustainable future for the sport.

Represented by the NTF Vice-President, Adeyemi Owoseni, Ochei commended DavNotch Nigeria Limited for its unwavering belief in and investment in Nigerian tennis, expressing confidence that the partnership would continue to flourish.

“We hope that as we celebrate the sixth edition today, the Nigeria Tennis Federation will one day celebrate six decades of DavNotch’s sponsorship,” he said.

Owoseni highlighted several reforms introduced by the current NTF administration since assuming office about a year ago. These include the establishment of a comprehensive digital player registration system to create a reliable national database, alongside a renewed drive to strengthen grassroots tennis development across the country.

He also described Nigeria’s qualification for the Davis Cup World Group II, following a memorable victory over higher-ranked Uzbekistan in the World Group II Play-offs, as one of the Federation’s landmark achievements.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of DavNotch Nigeria Limited, Emmanuel Ochei, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing tennis in Nigeria and announced plans to increase prize money and player incentives in future editions of the championship.

According to him, the DavNotch National Open Tennis Championship has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading privately sponsored tennis tournaments since its inception in 2021, attracting more than 1,000 players and producing several national champions.
