The Chimereugo I of Etche, Eze Dr Chika Promise Chimereugo, has called on Nigerians to embrace collective responsibility in addressing the country’s challenges, saying national development depends on the contributions of every citizen.
He made the call while speaking to Leadership newspaper during the Parliament Diary Series Awards held at the National Assembly in Abuja.
Dr Chimereugo described the Parliament Diary Series as a valuable platform that supports entrepreneurs by promoting resilience, innovation and healthy competition.
He said the initiative provides participants with opportunities to share their experiences, inspire others and contribute positively to society.
The traditional ruler noted that individuals committed to society’s development should be recognised for their efforts, adding that positive contributions do not go unnoticed.
Attending the event for the first time, he praised the organisers for what he described as a well-conceived initiative that encourages excellence among entrepreneurs.
Speaking on leadership, Dr Chimereugo said responsibility for transforming Nigeria extends beyond elected officials, stressing that leadership is exercised in communities, workplaces, educational institutions and other areas of society.
He urged Nigerians, irrespective of their occupation or social status, to play active roles in tackling national challenges, including corruption, through responsible conduct and civic engagement.
According to him, sustainable national progress can only be achieved when citizens work collectively towards the common good.
