The Akwa Ibom State Government has applauded President Bola Tinubu for the Federal Government’s Renewed Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) debit card policy, which has so far given hope to hundreds of poor households across the 31 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the debit card distribution flag-off in Etinan Local Government Area, where 3,725 beneficiaries received credits of N75,000 each under the scheme, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs Emem Ibanga, commended the initiative, noting that it would go a long way towards alleviating poverty among the downtrodden.

The commissioner assured beneficiaries that “every eligible person captured under the programme would receive a debit card to access the intervention.”

“Each beneficiary will receive a total of N75,000, payable in three tranches of N25,000, through a transparent system that ensures the funds are paid directly without intermediaries,” she said.

The commissioner also advised beneficiaries not to surrender their debit cards or personal information to anyone, warning them against paying anyone to access the funds.

Declaring support for the re-election of President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno, Ibanga said their re-election was non-negotiable and urged beneficiaries to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of next year’s elections.

“I want to encourage eligible residents to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by obtaining your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“I want to commend His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, for sustaining the National Social Investment Programme, which continues to provide direct financial support to vulnerable households across the country.

“I also appreciate His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, for providing the enabling environment that has ensured the successful implementation of the programme in Akwa Ibom State, enabling more of our people to benefit from this Federal Government intervention,” she added.
