Team Nigeria has stepped up preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the men’s 3×3 basketball team holding a final overseas training camp in Amsterdam, Netherlands, ahead of the competition in Glasgow, Scotland.
With just 14 days to the Opening Ceremony, the squad, led by D’Tigers star Ike Nwamu, is sharpening its form through intensive training and will play two international friendly matches in Amsterdam before travelling to Glasgow.
The training camp is expected to provide the team with valuable match practice and help the coaching staff fine-tune tactics ahead of the Games.
Preparations are also gathering pace in athletics, with several of Nigeria’s foreign-based stars expected to arrive in the United Kingdom in the coming days to join the national camp.
Among those due to link up with Team Nigeria are sprint sensation Kanyinsola Ajayi, world record holder Tobi Amusan, quarter-miler Samuel Ogazi and 400m hurdler Ezekiel Nathaniel, alongside other members of the athletics contingent.
More than 75 Nigerian athletes are currently in camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, where they are undergoing intensive training ahead of their final move to Glasgow for the Opening Ceremony.
Team Nigeria is expected to compete across several sports at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as the country targets another successful outing on the international stage.
