Founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Waterlight Africa Investments Ltd, Prince Ero Ibhafidon, has received the Global Sustainability Leadership Award 2026 at the 5th Global Sustainability Summit and Awards held at the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, London.

The award recognised his contributions to sustainable development, clean energy, innovation, environmental stewardship, humanitarian service and inclusive economic growth across Africa.

The event also marked the international launch of Waterlight Africa Investments Ltd, a purpose-driven investment and project development company established to connect global capital with high-impact investment opportunities across Africa.

After receiving the award, Ibhafidon described it as the beginning of a broader mission to position Africa as one of the world’s leading destinations for sustainable investment.

“This recognition is not the destination—it is the beginning of a larger mission. Africa possesses the world’s youngest workforce, abundant natural resources, extraordinary entrepreneurial talent and one of the fastest-growing consumer markets. Our mission is to transform these advantages into globally competitive investment opportunities that create prosperity, strengthen communities and deliver sustainable returns for investors,” he said.

Ibhafidon called on governments, development finance institutions, private investors, multinational corporations and development partners to increase strategic investments across Africa, describing the continent as the world’s next major frontier for sustainable economic growth.

He said the company would focus on mobilising investment into critical sectors, including renewable energy, clean technology, water infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, manufacturing, affordable housing, logistics and youth entrepreneurship.

The company said its investment philosophy combines commercial success with measurable social and environmental impact, ensuring that investments contribute to inclusive growth while delivering competitive returns.

It noted that Africa’s youthful population, expanding urban centres, digital transformation and vast renewable energy resources present significant opportunities for long-term investment.

Waterlight said it intends to partner with governments, sovereign wealth funds, development finance institutions, pension funds, private equity firms, venture capital investors, multinational companies and philanthropic organisations to develop projects capable of delivering sustainable economic and social value.

The company also highlighted its foundation in the Waterlight Save Initiative, a United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)-accredited non-governmental organisation committed to improving access to clean water, healthcare, education, renewable energy, humanitarian assistance and sustainable livelihoods.

It explained that the experience gained through the initiative has enabled the company to identify investment opportunities where commercial success aligns with community development and environmental sustainability.
