The Bauchi State Government has appointed Alhaji Haruna Bako as the interim sole administrator of Nigeria National League side Wikki Tourists as the club begins preparations for the 2026/27 season.
The appointment was confirmed on Thursday following a major shake-up in the club’s management after last season’s disappointing relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Bako replaces Salmanu Abubakar, who was relieved of his duties in the wake of the club’s poor campaign.
According to the state government, the decision forms part of broader efforts to restore confidence in the administration of Wikki Tourists and lay the groundwork for an immediate return to the Nigerian top flight.
Bako is expected to assume office immediately and oversee both the administrative and sporting restructuring of the club.
Meanwhile, Wikki Tourists have already commenced preparations for the new Nigeria National League season under newly appointed Technical Adviser Bala Abubakar, with promotion back to the NPFL firmly established as the club’s primary objective.
The Bauchi-based side remains one of the country’s traditional football clubs and will be hoping the changes in leadership can trigger a swift revival.
