WAFU B U20 Championship: Flying Eagles Settle In Côte d’Ivoire Ahead Of Ghana Clash

Defending champions Nigeria have settled into their base in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship, which gets underway this weekend.

The Flying Eagles arrived in Abidjan on Monday before travelling by road to Yamoussoukro, where they are camped at the Trio Corridor Hotel.

Coach Abdu Maikaba’s side will begin their title defence against old rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites on Monday at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium.

The fixture rekindles one of West African football’s fiercest youth rivalries. Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in the final of the previous edition in Lomé to lift the regional title.

The seven-time African U20 champions will continue their Group campaign against Togo’s Sparrow Hawks next Thursday before facing Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on Sunday, 2 August.

The tournament serves as an important build-up for the Flying Eagles as they continue preparations for future continental and global competitions.
