Madrid-Based Teen Star, Munachi, Sets Sights On Flying Eagles Spot

Seventeen-year-old winger and striker Munachi Ajanwachuku has set his sights on earning a place in Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, as he continues his rapid development across Europe and the United States.

The Madrid-based youngster said his biggest ambition is to break into the Flying Eagles squad under the guidance of head coach Abdul Maikaba, describing it as the next major milestone in his football career.

Ajanwachuku, who combines his education at the European International School of Barcelona with his football development, has spent the past few years honing his skills with several renowned academies, including Houston Dynamo FC, Austin FC, Getafe CF, Sant Cugat FC and KS Academy.

His development has also been shaped by participation in elite youth competitions and programmes such as the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC), the Real Madrid World Championship and Real Madrid Camps.

The versatile attacker has gained valuable international experience by competing against leading youth academies in Spain, the United States, Canada and Colombia, facing sides such as Getafe, Villarreal and Espanyol.

Standing 1.75 metres tall, Ajanwachuku is regarded as a pacey forward capable of operating on either wing or through the middle. His strengths include close ball control, dribbling ability, clinical finishing, defensive work rate and tactical awareness.

His performances have been backed up by an impressive scoring record over the past three seasons. He scored 12 goals in 19 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign after netting 20 goals in 29 matches in 2022/23 and 19 goals in 25 games in the 2021/22 season.

The teenager said he has remained focused on improving every aspect of his game and believes years of hard work and commitment have prepared him for the challenge of representing Nigeria at youth international level.

Ajanwachuku hopes his performances will attract the attention of the Flying Eagles technical crew as Maikaba continues to monitor emerging talents ahead of future international assignments.

Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s promising young prospects abroad, the attacker is determined to turn his long-held dream of wearing the green and white colours of the Flying Eagles into reality.
