Usher’s signature fan interaction took an awkward turn during his Nashville concert after an audience member appeared uncomfortable participating in the singer’s flirtatious onstage routine.
The Grammy winner had invited the woman on stage as part of the interactive segment, but she repeatedly pulled away from his advances. Realising she was not at ease, the singer ended the moment.
“I don’t think she wants to be on the stage, huh?” Usher told the crowd before asking crew members to escort the woman off stage and inviting another fan to take her place.
The clip quickly went viral, with social media users divided over the incident. While some questioned why the woman accepted the invitation, others praised Usher for recognising her discomfort and ending the interaction.
The woman, who later identified herself as Gabrielle Cheyenne, responding to the backlash said she accepted the invitation because she wanted to enjoy the moment and had no intention of refusing the chance to appear on stage.
She added that she and her mother had received a surprise upgrade to the VIP section before she was selected to join Usher on stage.
