Chairmen of Football Associations (FAs) from Nigeria’s North Central geopolitical zone have purchased the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) presidential nomination form for incumbent president, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, in a fresh show of support for his re-election bid ahead of the federation’s elective congress.

The gesture follows the unanimous endorsement of Gusau’s second-term ambition by the North Central FA Chairmen during the Annual General Meeting of the Benue State Football Association in Makurdi.

Speaking after the presentation, Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, Barrister Paul Edeh, said the delegation was fulfilling the region’s commitment to purchase the nomination form for the incumbent NFF president.

He said the move reflected the confidence of football administrators in the zone in Gusau’s leadership and the progress recorded under his administration over the past four years.

“We are here to fulfil the promise made by the North Central Football Association Chairmen to purchase the nomination form for Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau. We believe he deserves this support because of the progress recorded under his leadership and the positive impact his administration has made on Nigerian football,” Edeh said.

The delegation included Edeh, Kogi State FA Chairman Alhaji Hassan Wada, Kaduna State FA Chairman Faisal Tozo and the Personal Assistant to the NFF President, Abubakar Barde.

The latest endorsement further strengthens Gusau’s campaign ahead of the NFF presidential election, scheduled for 27 September 2026 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where delegates from the federation’s constituent bodies will elect the next leadership of Nigerian football.

Gusau, who assumed office in 2022, is seeking a second term on the back of what supporters describe as significant achievements in football administration, improved collaboration with state football associations, enhanced grassroots development and ongoing governance reforms.

His re-election campaign has continued to gather momentum, with endorsements now coming from stakeholders across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The North West FA Chairmen had earlier declared their support for Gusau, while the South West and South East zones have also publicly backed his candidacy. Stakeholders from the South-South and North East have similarly endorsed his bid, leaving the incumbent with widespread support as the countdown to the 27 September elective congress gathers pace.
