EFCC Arrests Edo Man Over Alleged $1,100 Sextortion Of Indian Woman

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an Edo State-based man, Odigie Moses, over an alleged sextortion case involving an Indian woman.

Moses was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, after allegedly posing as a spiritualist with healing powers, the anti-graft agency said in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly met the woman on Zelle after she sought spiritual assistance for what she described as life-threatening challenges.

The Commission alleged that Moses subsequently convinced the woman to undergo a spiritual bath, which he secretly recorded without her consent.

He allegedly used the video to blackmail the woman, threatening to release the recording publicly unless she paid him money.

The EFCC said the woman eventually transferred $1,100 to the suspect to prevent the alleged release of the video.

“The suspect subsequently deceived her into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he recorded live without her permission, and thereafter blackmailed her to send him money, else he would make the video public,” the commission said.

The anti-graft agency said investigations into the case were ongoing.

It added that Moses would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
