The Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Nigeria’s Ombudsman, has commenced a capacity-building programme for its staff across the South-West geopolitical zone as part of efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency and effective public service delivery.
The three-day training, facilitated by Skytech Analytics Nig. Ltd, is being attended by officers from the PCC state offices in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
The programme is being conducted in two batches, with the first phase held from August 4 to 6, 2026, while the second batch is scheduled for August 11 to 13, 2026.
The intensive workshop focuses on modern governance tools and practical skills in institutional accountability, ethical conduct, transparency, complaint management and quality service delivery.
Participants are also being trained on legal and institutional frameworks, records management, compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, anti-corruption strategies and best practices in public-sector governance.
Speaking at the opening session, the Honourable Commissioner representing Ogun State, Morakinyo Akinleye, described the initiative as a major investment in the Commission’s human capital and institutional development.
Akinleye said continuous staff development was essential to enabling the PCC to effectively fulfil its mandate of promoting administrative justice, fairness in public administration and citizens’ confidence in government institutions.
Also speaking at the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Lagos, the Honourable Commissioner representing Lagos State, Afeez Odenewu, urged participants to actively engage in the training and ensure that the knowledge acquired translates into improved productivity and professionalism.
He said the skills gained should enhance ethical service delivery, efficiency and the effective handling of public complaints across the six South-West states.
The Lead Consultant and Managing Partner of Skytech Analytics Nig. Ltd, Wahab S. Adeniran, commended the Honourable Chief Commissioner of the PCC, Bashir Abubakar (MFR), for entrusting the company with the delivery of the strategic capacity-building programme.
Adeniran described the initiative as evidence of the Commission’s commitment to continuous institutional reform and professional excellence.
He said the training modules were designed to equip participants with practical competencies that would strengthen integrity, accountability, transparency and operational effectiveness within the Commission.
According to him, the programme also supports the PCC’s vision of institutional excellence through ethical leadership, effective records management, improved public engagement and enhanced service delivery.
Participants are expected to return to their respective state offices with renewed commitment to professionalism and the implementation of best practices aimed at improving complaint resolution, institutional performance and public confidence.
The South-West programme forms part of the PCC’s broader nationwide staff development initiative designed to improve operational efficiency and reinforce the Commission’s role as Nigeria’s foremost Ombudsman institution promoting accountability, transparency and good governance.
