APC Flays Reopening Of Amaechi, Cole’s Trial

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has described the decision of the state government to reopen the trial of former minister of transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the party’s governorship candidate, Pastor Tonye Cole, as an “expensive joke”.

This is as it vowed to file charges against Governor Nyesom Wike after the expiration of his tenure on May 29, 2023 for allegedly seeking the destruction of character and reputation of Amaechi and Cole who the party described as “illustrious sons of Rivers State.”

A Rivers State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Chinwendu Nwogu had on Thursday begun fresh hearing on a fresh suit filed by the state government against the duo for allegedly selling assets of the state and withdrawing N96 billion from the state government’s coffers.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, spokesman of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Sogbeye Eli, challenged Wike to publish the transactions between the state government under Amaechi and Sahara Energy to allow Rivers people and the general public make their own informed judgments on these allegations.
