The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has unveiled its blueprint, stressing that Nigeria needs a new way of governance.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) unveiled its 2027-2031 Presidential Policy Document, themed “Farewell To Poverty and Insecurity,” saying that Nigeria needs new ways of governance.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Abuja yesterday, the party’s National Chairman, Professor Sadiq Gombe, said the blueprint was anchored on three inseparable pillars: security, productivity and prosperity.

“Without security, there can be no meaningful production, and sustainable prosperity,” he said.

He described the document as a national proposition and not just another political manifesto. He said it outlines what government must do to move Nigerians from poverty and insecurity to security, productivity, dignity and prosperity.

He said the central purpose of government must be the security, welfare and advancement of the people.

“Public office must not be treated as private property. Political power must be understood as a trust given by the people,” Gombe added.

The SDP chairman said Nigeria needs both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.

He called for stronger armed forces, police, intelligence and border control, alongside measures to address economic and social conditions that make communities vulnerable to crime.

“A secure Nigeria is one where farmers can cultivate without fear, traders can move goods safely, children can attend school, and businesses can invest with confidence,” he stated.

Gombe said Nigeria cannot depend on imports and raw material exports. He stressed that the party would propose agriculture with full value chains, manufacturing, energy, construction, technology, trade and skills for youth to create jobs and drive the economy.

He further said that government’s role is to create conditions for Nigerians to produce, invest and innovate. “We do not believe poverty should be managed indefinitely.

We believe poverty must be eliminated through productive employment,” he said.

He said the blueprint emphasizes implementation, monitoring and accountability.

Gombe endorsed the party’s presidential ticket of Prince Adewole Adebayo and Dr. Usman Bugaje for 2027, stressing that with the right leadership, Nigeria can be secure, productive and prosperous.

Also speaking, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo, said Nigeria must change the way it does politics to change the way it is governed, as he unveiled the party’s blueprint.

Adebayo said since 1999 politics has turned into comedy, but the essence of politics is to filter ideas and produce sustainable leaders.

“All our problems are man-made. The men who made these problems are the men in the Villa, government houses and National Assembly,” he stated.

He said Nigeria lacks philosopher-kings and instead has criminals in high places who have turned public office into an excuse to plunder resources and destroy the hopes of citizens.

Adebayo described the SDP blueprint as a scientifically documented thesis submitted to Nigerians for evaluation.

He challenged incumbents to account for their stewardship.

“Where have you been in the past four years? Where is the money saved from subsidies? Where are the trillions for security? Where is electricity?” he asked.

The SDP candidate said government must be guided by ideas and documents.

“We are people of the book. We must govern by the book. We must live by the book. Policy must translate directly into solutions for poverty and insecurity that ordinary Nigerians can feel,” he added.

He criticized the management of the economy and the Central Bank, saying it has become “a warehouse of debt” instead of creating productive employment and protecting the currency.

He compared accountability in government to accountability in families, saying Nigerians manage home finances better than current leaders manage the nation.

Adebayo said a president has four years to deliver results, just as a student must graduate with a degree.

He urged voters to demand performance and not accept excuses, stressing that the goal of the SDP is “farewell to poverty and disinheritance.”

He emphasized that the blueprint will work for any party that adopts it because good policy is not partisan.
