Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has revealed that he would not have married his wife, Simi, if their blood genotypes were incompatible.

Speaking on the One54 Podcast, the music artist who lives with sickle cell anaemia explained that preventing his children from inheriting the condition was a non-negotiable priority that superseded romantic feelings.

He disclosed that confirming Simi’s AA genotype was his first action when they began dating, noting that her compatibility was the sole reason he pursued the relationship. He urged young individuals, particularly those carrying the sickle cell trait, to prioritize genotype matching over emotion to prevent passing the genetic condition to future generations.
