Eric Bauza, the award-winning voice actor known for bringing iconic Looney Tunes characters to life, has died aged 46.
His family announced his sudden death in a statement shared on Instagram. According to Variety, Bauza died at home on Sunday, with hypertensive cardiovascular disease reported as the cause.
The Canadian-born performer voiced several beloved cartoon characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and Elmer Fudd. He also portrayed Foghorn Leghorn and Road Runner, continuing a legacy associated with the late voice actor Mel Blanc.
Bauza featured in the 2021 animated film Space Jam: A New Legacy and voiced characters in this year’s Coyote vs Acme. His other film credits included playing Toad General in 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. He also appeared in the recent release, Forgotten Island.
His talent earned him three Emmy Awards for outstanding voice performance between 2022 and 2025.
In a 2021 interview with NBC News, Bauza recalled growing up in Ontario as a devoted Looney Tunes fan. Of Filipino descent, he said he began imitating the characters’ voices as a child.
He described the franchise as a source of humour that crossed cultural and linguistic boundaries.
Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks chairman Channing Dungey paid tribute to the actor, praising his ability to bring laughter to audiences worldwide.
Dungey said Bauza regarded continuing the Looney Tunes legacy as one of the greatest honours of his life.
