Alhaji Muhammad Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has commissioned solar-powered boreholes for Almajiri Tsangaya schools in Kano State.
The projects are designed to bring relief to the pupils and their teachers through improved access to clean and safe drinking water.
This was contained in a statement issued by Atiku Abubalar’s speacial adviser on Youth Engagement and Strategy, Tanimu A. Tahir, who said the initiative reflected a commitment to addressing some of the basic humanitarian needs of
underserved communities, particularly, children in traditional Islamic learning centres.
The inauguration of the project, facilated by Think Tank for Atiku, was part of an ambitious intervention spearheaded under the humanitarian activities associated with his father, which aims to provide 1,000 solar-powered boreholes across communities.
Tahir said, “The project is designed to improve access to potable water, promote better hygiene and sanitation, and ease the daily difficulties faced by vulnerable populations.
“By prioritising Almajiri Tsangaya schools, the intervention also recognises the importance of supporting the welfare and dignity of children in these institutions.
“The initiative further underscores the importance of humanitarian service as a practical expression of leadership and compassion.
“Through this intervention, the Atiku family continues to demonstrate a commitment to community development and improving the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.
“For the pupils and communities benefiting in Kano, these boreholes represent more than access to water; they are a symbol of hope, care, and investment in a healthier future”.
