A Nigerian skincare expert, Dr Agbeluyi Bosede Folasade, has called on consumers to prioritise skin health and adopt safe skincare practices amid growing concerns over extreme beauty trends and the influence of social media.
Folasade, also known professionally as Folasade Omotoyinbo, gave the advice as her skincare business, established in 2017, marked nine years of operation in Nigeria’s beauty industry.
She urged consumers, particularly young women, to make informed skincare choices and avoid practices that could compromise their skin health.
She stressed the importance of adopting balanced and responsible skincare routines.
“True beauty is not about extremes. It’s about taking care of your skin in a safe, consistent, and intentional way,” she said.
The skincare expert also emphasised the need for consumers to understand their individual skin types and choose products suited to their skincare needs.
According to information published on her company’s website, its product range includes cleansers, creams, serums, toners, oils, scrubs, herbal soaps and specialised skincare kits.
Reflecting on her nine-year experience in the industry, Folasade said skincare should go beyond physical appearance to promote personal confidence and well-being.
She said the journey had focused on helping people feel comfortable in their skin while improving access to skincare solutions.
Her business profile also lists youth empowerment, training and charitable initiatives among its activities.
The anniversary, marked on October 28 and 29, 2026, comes amid growing concerns about unsafe beauty practices, misleading skincare claims and the pressure to meet unrealistic beauty standards promoted on social media.
