Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, Prof. William Olu-Aderonmu, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s wisdom that democracy is not a gift, but a structure that must be engineered, fought for and defended with one’s very life.
Olu-Aderonmu, who made these remarks during a public presentation of a book, titled “Tinubu: The Architect of Modern Nigeria” at Ikeja, Lagos State recently, noted that while others sought the shelter of silence during the dark days of the June 12 NADECO struggle, Tinubu sticked his neck out in the storm, designing a resistance that would eventually dismantle the scaffolding of military absolutism.
In a statement he issued yesterday, Olu-Aderonmu, said the book not only x-rays the skeletal framework of the Nigerian State, but also a rigorous scholarly expedition which traverses the rugged terrain of pre-independence activism, navigates the turbulent waters of post-independence struggles, and eventually anchors itself in the contemporary era, where Nigerians today find Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the centrepiece of a new “Modern School of Political Architecture.”
He further added that it was within the crucible of democratic hunger that Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged, stressing that he did not merely join the movement, but he became its heartbeat.
Also speaking at the event, Honourable (Dr.) Babatunde Olokun said that the book would be available online on all social media platforms to reach out to the youths, who are not at home with reading books, but always remain glued to their devices.
In his own contribution, Comrade Omodara stressed that the book will be launched in all the states of the federation, thereby engaging the Local Government Areas for the book to reach the people at the grassroots.
Professor Aderounmu, however, said that the book has been serialised into volumes with the first three volumes published, while it is going to be an ongoing publication which will continue to volume five or even more.
The Chairman, Lagos State chapter of the Support Group, Princess Bola Kazeem, added that the book will go a long way to educate and inform people on what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing in Nigeria, while in his closing remarks, Professor Olu – Aderounmu posited that the book is a call to every Nigerian to become a ‘Co-Builder’, more so that the “Architect has provided the plan, but the labourers, the engineers, the students, and the patriots must all play their part.”
