The secretary to Abia State Government (SSG) Kenneth Kalu, a strong ally and a member of the governor, Alex Otti’s kitchen cabinet has resigned from office.
But, Otti said he embarked “on a leave of absence to enable him attend to some serious domestic matters that require his physical presence in Canada.”
His special adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital.
Otti said that given the enormity of task associated with the SSG’s office, he couldn’t persuade Kalu to work remotely.
The statement further said the governor thanked him for the excellent services he rendered to the state and wished him the very best as he commences his leave.
Also, it noted that while addressing the meeting, Kalu expressed gratitude to his colleagues and thanked Otti for the opportunity he offered him to serve the state.
According to the statement, Kanu, who is a professor and an accountant assured his colleagues that he would continue to contribute to the development of the state.
Kalu said, “Growing up, I had a vision of living a very simple and private life with a modest ambition, but looking at what I have accomplished, I can only but thank God for his Grace.”
”Above all, having the opportunity to serve in a government that has wiped the tears of Abia people and made them proud, was a dream come through, hence my gratitude to Otti for his support.”
