Abia Lawmaker Raises The Alarm Over Erosion Threat

The member representing Umuahia South constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Emeka Obioma, has raised the alarm over erosion threat in Ogbodiukwu Umuopara community.

Obioma spoke under matter of urgent public importance on the floor of the House and lamented that the erosion was threatening the people and devastating property.

The lawmaker, therefore, called for quick government and intervention agencies action on the threat to save the situation as the rainy season is intensifying.

In its response, the House passed a resolution directing its committees on works and environment to liaise with the relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to look into the matter.

The House, chaired by the speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa further directed the committees to assess the extent of the threat and make recommendations to the House.

It also passed another resolution for the state to participate in the Federation Account Allocation Committee Receivables Discounting Programmes for the State Infrastructure Financing.

This followed a request to that effect from the Executive, as read on the floor of the House by the speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa.
