The deputy governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, has said the state will showcase itself as Africa’s business destination at the 2nd Aba International Trade Fair.
Emetu stated this while briefing the press on the 10-day fair scheduled for November 28 to December 7 at Osisioma Trade Fair Complex, in Umuahia, the state capital.
The chairman of the organising committee said the fair, themed “Sustaining the Momentum, Unlocking Abia’s Economic Potentials,” will attract many local and foreign exhibitors.
”The state is organising it in collaboration with the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, and the Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
Assuring the participants of adequate publicity, he noted that it will create avenues for the chambers to interact with their counterparts outside the state and the country.
”We’ll have a handshake with exhibitors, manufacturers, businessmen and women in the hinterland and those outside in terms of publicising the event.
”We all know that the governor, Dr Alex Otti is a media-friendly governor, therefore, the media will be carried along properly”, he further explained.
Contributing, the immediate past commissioner for Trade and Commerce and the co-chairman, Kingsley Nwokocha assured that the fair will be an improvement on the 2024 edition.
Nwokocha, who now heads the Ministry for Labour and Productivity, maintained that the challenges that faced the last edition had been identified and taken care of.
