The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has announced the 19th edition of the Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF), scheduled to run from September 20th to October 1st, 2024.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the chamber’s complex in Abuja, the second deputy president of ACCI, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong emphasised the fair’s significance, noting its evolution into one of Nigeria’s largest and most influential trade platforms. “The AITF has consistently expanded its scope and impact, offering a unique platform for both domestic and international exhibitors to showcase their products, access new markets, establish valuable business relationships, and stay ahead of industry trends,” Dr. Hong remarked.

This year’s event, themed “Mobility Options for Transportation, Trade Financing, and Taxation,” aims to address critical areas that are essential for business growth. The theme reflects the importance of mobility in the global economy, particularly its impact on transportation, finance, and taxation. By focusing on these areas, the AITF seeks to help businesses reduce logistical challenges, enhance supply chain efficiency, and lower operational costs—key factors for sustainable growth.

The fair will serve as a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration, bringing together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how mobility can drive a more efficient, sustainable, and innovative future.

Discussions will also delve into sustainable financing and taxation strategies, addressing challenges such as limited access to credit and the complexities of multiple taxation—issues that are crucial as Nigeria transitions towards a more equitable and resilient economy.

“The AITF continues to be a gathering point for entrepreneurs and service providers from both national and international markets,” Dr. Hong stated. “This year, we expect to host over 500 exhibitors showcasing more than 10,000 products, solutions, and services to nearly 100,000 attendees over the course of 12 days.”

The 2024 fair is set to feature discussions on key topics such as the mobility of people and goods, taxation, and trade finance. A dedicated diplomatic platform will allow foreign representatives to present their business and economic cooperation projects, as well as their featured products and technologies.

Key stakeholders expected to participate include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), FCT Inland Revenue Service (FCT IRS), FCT Administration (FCTA), National Council on Climate Change (NCC), Federal Ministry of Transportation, NASENI, and representatives from embassies and missions. Other participants include the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Federal Ministry of Science and Innovation, Federal Ministry of Finance, commercial banks, fintech companies, clean technology executives, and innovators.

Dr. Hong also highlighted the critical role of the media in ensuring the success of the AITF. “We understand the crucial role that the media plays in publicising events like the AITF, and we will be leveraging your various platforms to disseminate this important information. We greatly value our longstanding relationship with the media and urge you to help spread the word about AITF 2024, ensuring it attracts the attention and participation it deserves. With your support, we are confident that this year’s trade fair will be a tremendous success, contributing significantly to the growth and development of our economy,” he concluded.
