Actress Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, 1993, I Am Sam, 2001) has been tapped to star in a new limited series that delves into the investigation of convicted sex-trafficker and pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.

Dern will play Julie K Brown, an investigative journalist with the Miami Herald who tracked the activities of the late disgraced financier when no one else would. Brown’s reporting was crucial to bringing public attention to Epstein, who was convicted of sex trafficking in Florida in 2008, but died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges of sex trafficking minors.

Brown’s works on the subject include a 2021 book titled ‘Perversion of Injustice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story’, and a three-part series published by the Miami Herald detailing the cozy relationship between prosecutors and Epstein’s lawyers, as well as the many rich and powerful people who allegedly turned a blind eye to Epstein’s abuses of women and girls. It was based on interviews with 60 women who claimed to be victims of abuse, and led to Epstein’s charge for sex trafficking.
