The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, on Friday convened a private meeting with leaders of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), signaling a new phase of political consultations amid the ADC’s ongoing leadership crisis.

Held behind closed doors, the meeting brought together prominent figures from both parties, highlighting increasing cooperation among opposition groups at a time when the ADC continues to grapple with internal disputes.

Among those present were PRP National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed; ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi; PRP Publicity Secretary Muhammed Ishaq; and Salihu Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside other key stakeholders.

Baba-Ahmed, who recently took over leadership of the PRP, had stepped down from his role as Special Adviser on Political Matters to Vice President Kashim Shettima in April 2025—a move widely interpreted as his return to frontline partisan politics.

It was learnt that the PRP expressed solidarity with the ADC, particularly over its ongoing dispute with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other state institutions.

Mark, it was gathered, welcomed the support, noting that the PRP had been the only political party to openly back the ADC during the crisis. He also expressed optimism that the growing partnership between both parties would remain strong and focused on advancing the broader national interest.
