The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to take over Borno State and the presidency in 2027, citing governance failure as the reason behind the resurgence of attacks in the state , region, and the country at large.

The party attributed the security challenges and resurgence of attacks in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and other parts of the country to the current administration’s incompetence in governance at State and federal levels.

The chairman of ADC in Borno State, Hon Kolo Bukar stated this on Sunday shortly after the inauguration of the state’s party executive following the party’s successful congress on Saturday in Maiduguri.

He said despite the challenges the ADC is facing which is not hidden, but known to everyone, the party will wither the storm and emerge victorious.

Bukar a former member of the Borno State House of Assembly, said despite the weakness of opposition in the State before, with the constitution of the ADC executive ,and his emergence as chairman of the party, they are going to change the tide.

“We know the terrain, we know the topography of the State, we know the people and we know how to confront them.

“The message we have for the people of Borno is that we are going to bring succour, good governance and multiple changes in the State. The ruling party is a complete failure. They have failed to this country, they have failed Borno State. They have brought insecurity, poverty and a lot of challenges people are facing.

“So we are trying to get to that point and the moment ADC gets into power, we are going to ameliorate these challenges.”

He said the party was shocked by the resurgence of attacks in parts of Borno State, but saw it as complete failure of governance at the centre and the sub national level.

Hon Bukar promised the people of Borno and the country at large that the ADC is coming with a comprehensive policy to mitigate insecurity in the State and the country.

In his remarks, one of the leaders of the party in the State, Alhaji Kashim Imam Matawalle, said the priority of ADC is not just to take over power in Borno and the federal level, but to wipe away the tears of poor masses of the State and the country who have suffered the brunt of the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC ) bad governance over the years.

“We want to take over governance in Borno and Nigeria. We want to establish a government that will tackle security challenges ,and address the needs of the poor. We northerners did not vote for Tinubu in 2023. He did not win the election,” Matawalle said.
