The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring the party’s integrity and internal cohesion, cautioning against individuals allegedly parading themselves as members or leaders without proper authorization.
Acting National Chairman of the party, Hon Nafiu Bala, stated this in a press release, describing the infiltration of unregistered persons into the ADC as a major factor behind recent disturbances within the party.
He alleged that some of these individuals, whom he referred to as “political refugees,” had imported divisive tendencies that undermined the once peaceful structure of the ADC.
“The National Leadership of the ADC wishes to inform the general public, particularly our faithful members, that we are working assiduously to restore the glory of our great party which was infiltrated by political opportunists who sneaked in through the back door,” Bala said.
He cited recent incidents of unrest, including the burning of party offices in Ekiti and Kaduna States, as examples of the confusion allegedly caused by such impostors.
According to him, “These elements have a history of imposing leadership arbitrarily, thereby causing disunity wherever they operate. ADC is not a refugee camp where political vagabonds can sneak in without following due process.”
The Acting National Chairman also warned those organizing what he described as “kangaroo congresses” in the name of the party to desist, insisting that only duly registered members are recognized by the party’s constitution.
He added that any individual or group found disrupting the party’s peace and structure would face appropriate legal action.
