The Zonal National Vice-Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in charge of North Central, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, has expressed optimism that the party will dislodge the ruling APC in Kogi State and Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Ogbeha who stated this on Saturday at Anyigba in Dekina local government area of Kogi State at the unveiling of ADC in Kogi East, assured that the coalition would work to secure the future of the state and Nigeria.
“With what I have seen here today, it gives me a great pleasure that ADC will no doubt secure the future of Kogi East and by extension, the future of Kogi as a state.
“Kogi East has the number and we are happy that our party ADC has your support. Therefore we will not have any reason not to change the narrative of the state and that of the country.
“In the last two years hunger, poverty and insecurity among others have ravaged our country and we must change that narrative and move from poverty to prosperity, and the only party that can bring the prosperity to this nation is ADC.
“Our party does not require a third party from any part of the world to come and tell us how to secure our country. ADC will secure the country in the best way possible. We feel your pains and we know your desires and our party will provide your desires for you,” he stated.
While urging members and supporters of the party to remain steadfast with ADC, Senator Ogbeha assured that ADC will win the 2027 general elections even without money.
“The next general elections will not only be for ADC, but for the people of Nigeria. The election will be between APC and the people of Nigeria and victory will certainly be ours. If we do not indulge in anti-party activities, there is no reason why we cannot dislodge APC in Kogi State and Nigeria.”
While urging ADC members and supporters to bear in mind that the task ahead was enormous, Senator Ogbeha said it required collective sacrifice.
He further noted that the party may not have the money but has the people, saying that the people’s wish will prevail.
Ogbeha charged the youths and women to organise themselves to change the narrative for the betterment of their future and that of the their children.
Earlier in his speech, ADC leader in Kogi East and former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, said the people of Eastern Senatorial District joined the coalition to change the existing anomalies in the governance of the state and the country.
“We have decided to adopt ADC to bring internal democracy the party holds. ADC is a party that will prioritise the welfare, wellbeing, justice and the unity of our people in Kogi State.
“Governance in Kogi state has been misplaced for long. Basic education, rural health among other basic infrastructure no longer exist in rural communities. Local government councils that supposed to address the needs of communities are no longer functioning, that is why ADC has come to effect positive change” he stated.
Also, Kogi State Chairman of ADC, Mr Kinsley Temitope Ogah, assured that the party will produce the next Nigeria’s president and called for the unity of members of the party in the state.
Also in his goodwill message, the Deputy National Welfare Secretary of ADC, Mr David Itopa, described the ADC as the party of the youth and women and urged them to work hard for the party’s victory in 2027.
