No fewer than 75 prominent Osun State indigenes who have contributed to state and national development received state awards in Osogbo as part of activities to mark Governor Ademola Adeleke’s two years in office.

Prominent among the post-humour awardees were Chief Bola Ige, former governor; Oyo State Chief Sunday Afolabi, former Minister of Internal Affairs; Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, former governor, Osun, Oba Okunade Sijuwade; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, Owa Obokun of Ijesaland among others.

Also awarded were former Speakers of the House of Representatives Olubunmi Etteh and Lasun Yusuff, Pastor Enoch Adebooye, General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Chief Ifayemi Elebubon, Prof. Lai Olurode, and former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Adejare Bello, among others.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ademola Adeleke urged the awardees not to relent in contributing their quota to the development of the state, promising that his administration will continue to recognise those making the state proud in their various endeavours.

The governor also said his administration would not relentlessly deliver good governance to Osun State’s people.

“To the awardees and our people from various parts of the state, our administration is two years old. You are the best judge of our service delivery. You have seen our work. I have received many awards both locally and intentionally for our performance. Yet, I always tell my people that recognition and accolades are a challenge to do more, and we are prepared to do more.”

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, appreciated Governor Adeleke’s decision to recognise them.

Hon. Yusuf said the state has been peaceful since Adeleke assumed office as governor, adding that workers in the state can always remember the priority given to them by the present administration.
