Airline Deepens Intra-African Travel With Regional Flight

Air Peace has expanded its regional network with the launch of scheduled flights on the Lagos–Conakry–Bamako route, a move aimed at strengthening intra-African travel, trade, and connectivity across West Africa.

The airline commenced operations on the route on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with the inaugural flight departing from Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 in Lagos, marking another milestone in its regional expansion strategy.

The new service links Nigeria’s commercial capital with the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Mali, providing passengers with improved travel options while supporting business, tourism, cultural exchange and economic cooperation within the sub-region.

Air Peace said the route aligns with its vision of connecting more African cities and creating seamless travel opportunities across the continent and beyond.

At the Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry, the Air Peace delegation, led by the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Nowel Ngala, and Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustine Kamano, was received by Guinea’s Minister of Transport, Ousmane Gaoul Diallo; Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Amb. Umaru Kamfu; Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Thiam Oumar Sekou; and members of the Nigerian community in Guinea.

Speaking during the reception, Diallo described the new route as a significant step towards strengthening relations between Nigeria and Guinea, noting that it would facilitate the movement of people, promote trade and unlock new economic opportunities between both countries.

Similarly, the Director of Guinea’s Civil Aviation Authority, Thiam Oumar Sekou, said increased air connectivity would support the growth of the aviation sector and deepen regional integration across West Africa.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Amb. Umaru Kamfu, commended Air Peace for expanding its African network, saying the new route would strengthen bilateral relations and offer more convenient travel options for Nigerians, Guineans and other regional travellers.

Speaking on behalf of the airline, the Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, described the inaugural service as another milestone in Air Peace’s commitment to building a robust African network.

According to him, the addition of Conakry and Bamako enables passengers from the airline’s domestic destinations to connect seamlessly through Lagos to regional and international destinations, including London and the Caribbean.

He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to bringing African cities closer together by offering greater connectivity, convenience and access to new business and tourism opportunities.

After the Conakry stop, the inaugural flight continued to Bamako, where it landed at the Modibo Keita International Airport and was received by the Deputy Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Abdrahamane Farota; Technical Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Bahide Konandji, representing the Director General of Mali Airport; and members of the Nigerian community in Mali.

Farota welcomed Air Peace’s entry into the Malian market, saying the new route would strengthen air connectivity between Nigeria and Mali while promoting trade, tourism and economic cooperation.

Konandji also described the service as a positive development for Mali’s aviation sector and regional integration, expressing optimism that it would facilitate easier travel between Mali, Nigeria and other destinations across Air Peace’s expanding network.

Members of the Nigerian community in Mali welcomed the direct connection, noting that it would provide greater convenience for travellers and further strengthen ties between Nigerians and Malians.

With the commencement of flights to Conakry and Bamako, Air Peace now serves 13 destinations across West Africa. The airline said the expansion reinforces its position as a leading regional carrier while advancing its mission to promote intra-African connectivity, expand Nigeria’s aviation footprint, and position Lagos as a strategic gateway for travel across Africa and beyond.
