The Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS-Legal), Kano, has honoured LEADERSHIP Hausa Online with the prestigious “Outstanding Hausa Online Newspaper of the Year 2025” award, in recognition of its excellence across digital media platforms.

The award was conferred in appreciation of the newspaper’s significant role in disseminating news and reports in high-quality Hausa language, as well as its consistent efforts in promoting the Hausa language, culture, and literature through modern media platforms.

The certificate of recognition was presented during the 2025 Hausa Week Celebration, organised by the College and held between January 28 and 29, 2026, under the theme ‘Showcasing Hausa Cultural Heritage’. The award presentation took place on Thursday at the Haruna Bashir Hall within the College premises.

The Deputy Provost of the College, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, presented the award on behalf of the Department of Hausa to the management of LEADERSHIP Newspapers. The award was received on behalf of the organisation by the Head of the Hausa Online Desk of LEADERSHIP, Muhammad Bashir Amin.

Activities during the Hausa Week celebrations included exhibitions of Hausa cultural heritage, traditional music and dance performances, as well as the recognition of other Hausa-language media organisations, scholars who completed doctoral studies, corporate organisations, and notable individuals who have contributed to the development and promotion of the Hausa language.
