The Akwa United Football Club, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State have expressed deep sympathy with Doma United Football Club of Gombe State over a near- fatal road accident involving the team bus along Makurdi-Lafia Road on their way back from Owerri, after honouring the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 35, against Heartland FC.

Speaking in the incident in Uyo, Team Manager of Akwa Utd, Sir Emmanuel Udoh expressed shock over the sad incident, praising God that the incident did not involve the life of any player or the coaching crew.

He said, “Despite the terrifying news that the team bus of Doma United somersaulted several times before coming to a complete stop, we in Akwa United feel so relieved that no life was lost, as no amount of money, valuables or possession can compare to the loss of human life; hence, our thanks to God Almighty for His mercies and protection over all those who were involved in the auto crash.

“This incident calls for fervent prayers for our football clubs and other road users as they travel across this country to meet up with their different businesses.

“While praying against the re-occurrence of this ugly incident, our prayers and thoughts are with the management, staff and players of Doma United and we wish the team speedy recovery with a view of returning to the business of playing in the league, in good health and sound mind,” Sir Udoh said.
