Liverpool secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, despite delivering one of their poorest performances of the season.
Arne Slot’s side appeared disjointed throughout, with pundit Jamie Carragher labelling their first-half display a “horror show.”
However, they ultimately claimed all three points thanks to Alexis Mac Allister’s goal deep into stoppage time. This came just minutes after a controversial VAR decision had disallowed an earlier effort from the Argentine midfielder.
While Liverpool were incensed by the disallowed goal, many felt the result was an injustice given how comprehensively Forest, revitalised under new manager Vitor Pereira, had outplayed them.
Nevertheless, the win significantly bolsters Liverpool’s aspirations for Champions League qualification, moving them level on points with Chelsea and Manchester United.
For Forest, the defeat will be a bitter pill, but they can draw considerable encouragement from their spirited performance as they continue their fight against relegation. The hosts’ only missing element was a goal, with Callum Hudson-Odoi notably squandering their best opportunity early in the match.
