Altay Bayindir has undergone a Manchester United medical ahead of a possible move from Fenerbahce, according to reports.

United are keen to bring in a new goalkeeper to provide back-up for summer signing Andre Onana, who arrived at the club in a £47.2m deal from Inter Milan.

The Red Devils let David de Gea leave on a free transfer this summer with Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton, currently the back-up options for Onana.

Henderson is expected to leave this summer and Crystal Palace appears to be his most likely destination after he was previously linked with Nottingham Forest.

That has been Erik ten Hag’s side enter the market for a new ‘keeper and they are strongly considering a move for Turkey international Bayindir.

The 25-year-old is one of a number of options and United have also been linked with other goalkeepers, including Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos.

But, according to The Athletic, United have done a ‘pre-medical’ on Bayindir in Greece ahead of a potential €5m move.

They claimed that United have been pursuing Bayindir for some time but they are concerned over a back injury, hence the extra layer of medical tests.

Bayindir has five caps for Turkey and has made 145 appearances for Fenerbahce since arriving at the Turkish club in 2019.

Fenerbahce appears to have already found their replacement for Bayindir and are reportedly closing in on a move for Dominik Livakovic.
