Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) Alumni Association has honoured six professors, who were first degree products of the MOUAU.

The association presented the awards to the professors during a colloquium held to commemorate the second edition of the MOUAU Founders’ Day at the MOUAU.

The recipients are Professors Princewill Ogbonna, Dozie Ndubuisi Onunkwo, Joseph Onwumere, Onyema Uchechi Mercy Obike, Onwuchekwa Raphael Iheke, Kelechi Chima Igwe, and Chioma Nwakanma.

In an address, the president of the association, Dr. Oscar Obasi said its ongoing construction of a lecture theatre for the MOUAU is progressing and would be handed over to the management as soon as it is completed.

Obasi called for deeper engagement with the association’s networks, stressing that they are not merely supporters, but strategic partners in the development and advancement of the university system.

Emphasizing the vital roles the associations play, he described them as lifelong stakeholders and powerful agents of change, whose contributions extend far beyond university campuses.

He also acknowledged the quality leadership of the vice-chancellor of the MOUAU, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe and assured the MOUAU community of their continued support and cooperation.

Speaking while declaring the event open, the vice chancellor charged the members to always uphold and protect the integrity of the MOUAU at every occasion and anywhere they found themselves.

Represented by Prof. Chukwuma Offor, he lauded the alumni for embarking on the project and urged the members to reject anything that could damage the MOUAU’s reputation regardless of who is involved.
