Amaechi Did Not Impose Governorship Candidate On Us – Rivers ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has described as “false and misleading” allegations by one of its governorship aspirants, Allen Ezekiel-Hart, that former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, imposed a governorship candidate on the party ahead of the 2027 election.

The party stated that the emergence of Dr. Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson as its governorship candidate followed a transparent and credible process in line with the constitution and electoral guidelines of the ADC.

Recall that Pidomson, a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, emerged as the party’s governorship candidate after defeating other aspirants, including Farah Dagogo, Dr. Sokonte Davies and Allen Ezekiel-Hart, during the party’s primary election.

Speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, the Rivers State chairman of the ADC, Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, insisted that Amaechi did not interfere in the conduct of the primary election or impose any aspirant on the party.

Dimkpa said the leadership of the party remained committed throughout the exercise to transparency, fairness and strict compliance with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

According to him, all aspirants were adequately informed about the procedures leading to the primary election and were given equal opportunity to participate in the process.

“The emergence of Dr. Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson as the party’s candidate was a reflection of the collective decision and overwhelming support of delegates and stakeholders across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State,” Dimkpa stated.

He maintained that the party sustained open communication with aspirants and their representatives throughout the exercise and urged members of the public to disregard statements capable of creating unnecessary tension or division within the party.

“The ADC remains united and focused. Our priority now is to consolidate on the success of the primary process and continue working towards providing credible leadership and a better future for the people of Rivers State,” he said.
