‎Amotekun Loses 2 Officers In Ondo Ambush

‎The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has lost two of its officers following an ambush by suspected criminal elements in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

‎The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Jimoh  Adeniken, in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, said the incident occurred as the officers were coming out of their base along the Ago-Oyinbo farming area, around Ala Daadaa in Akure North.

‎According to him, the officers came under sudden attack from the assailants, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

‎Despite the resistance put up by the security personnel, Adeniken said two of its officers lost their lives in the attack, while another officer sustained injuries.

‎Following the incident, the Amotekun Command immediately deployed reinforcements to the area to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

‎The Corps also said it had intensified security operations, patrols and intelligence gathering within the affected area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents of the safety of their lives and property.

‎The command said the Ondo State Governor, the Corps Commander and the management sympathised with the families, colleagues and loved ones of the fallen officers.

‎The statement said, “We commiserate with the families, colleagues and loved ones of the fallen officers and salute their courage, sacrifice and commitment to the protection of the people of Ondo State.”

‎The Corps urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, while calling on residents to provide security agencies with credible information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.

‎It said the attack would not deter the Amotekun Corps from its mandate, stressing that, in conjunction with other security agencies, it would continue to protect lives and property and ensure that those responsible for the killings were brought to justice.
