Commenting on the arrest of the suspects in the Akoko axis of the state, Amotekun Corps said the suspects attacked one of their gang members with machete having discovered that the victim had confessed to Amotekun officials before he was rescued by the officers

The corps commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, who paraded the suspects with 48 others, explained that the kidnappers were operating within the borders of Ondo and Kogi States.

Adeleye said one of them, who usually conveyed them on motorcycles to their den, was apprehended by the Amotekun Corps’ officials in Akoko.

He said there were three captives in their den and were still negotiating with their family for ransom, when one of the syndicate was arrested with the motorcycle he used to bring in supplies to them in their hideout.

He said, “Having observed that the one apprehended had confessed to the crime and revealed their operations and hideout, when he arrived at their hideout, they attacked him with a machete to cover up.

“But before they could hack him to death, the officials of the Amotekun Corps who were following the victim rescued him and rounded up the criminals.

“The captives, a father and her daughter with another man all of whom are from the nNorthern part of the country, were rescued by Amotekun Corps’ officials,” he said.

Adeleye , however, reassured the people of the state of adequate security as the corps in collaboration with other security agencies would continue to provide 24/7 patrol in the 18 local government areas of the state.
